ZOTAC GF9300-D-E NVIDIA HDMI DRIVER
The particular optical drive was a cost-based decision. The hard drive storage were driven by power and performance considerations.
This happens frequently enough to be annoying enough to affect the budget. Intel actually has quiet a few CPUs to select from. This pushed me toward the highest performaning CPU family, the Wolfdales.
When doing a build, its important to watch for changes in parts pricing. I would have chosen an Intel Pentium E 2. This CPU seemed the best price, power, and performance selection. However, a sale deal broke my way, and I went with a more capable E for just a Zotac GF9300-D-E NVIDIA HDMI dollars more.

A mini-ITX enclose being small does not have the best heat dissipation. An additional requirement was a PMW fan, which is supported by the motherboard of choice.
My options were to go with the stock Intel heatsink, or find a higher performance Zotac GF9300-D-E NVIDIA HDMI heatsink. In addition, I have a couple of Intel quad-core stock aluminum, PMW heatsinks with copper cores that I can substitute for use.

However, these Zalman designs while good, are not true PMW fans. They use the manually pre-set Fan-mate fan controller. It turns out there Zotac GF9300-D-E NVIDIA HDMI very little clearance in my case of choice. It fit right in, and is lower than the chipset heatsink.
It also gives me a passive CPU cooling solution. Motherboard This is a motherboard-centric build.

The whole point was to find and build with the most capable mini-ITX motherboard I could find. Going with DDR2 required some investigation.

All the information at Zotac indicated that DDR2 was all the motherboard was rated for. However, their memory compatibility list has DDR2 sticks listed. On-board video, which is never really fast uses the system memory for its buffers. The faster the system memory, the better the faster the video will be. The second reason was getting the optimal 1: Lower-rated CAS Zotac GF9300-D-E NVIDIA HDMI sticks are available, but not worth the price difference. The motherboard only has two slots. I have rarely used anything but Corsair in my builds. Its on-board chipset support for video and codecs should supply all the video graphics processing needed.
Audio I intend to use the on-board audio. Case I looked at a lot of different cases in many price ranges.
